The Confused to Clarity Method

01

Find where the marks are going

In their first week, your child sits a full diagnostic marked against their exam board’s grade boundaries. You’ll see exactly where the marks are being lost, and which gaps to close first to move the grade fastest.

02

Lock in the understanding

Their tutor rebuilds the foundations behind every lost mark, one topic at a time, so the maths actually sticks instead of disappearing three weeks later.

03

Apply it to unseen questions

This is where most students lose their marks, and where most tutoring stops. We train your child to handle the unfamiliar, wordy questions that used to throw them, so they know exactly where to start.

04

Refine until the grade holds

Full papers under timed conditions, with every slip tracked. After every mock, their tutor targets the biggest source of lost marks. We don’t stop at the first A*. We keep going until it’s consistent, paper after paper.

What your child gets every week

A plan built around them

No more guessing what to revise. Your child’s plan lives in our Student Hub and is rebuilt after every mock, so each week’s work targets where they’re losing marks now. If a tutor is ever off sick, nothing is lost.

1-to-1 and small group coaching

A weekly 1-to-1 aimed at their most costly mistakes, plus a small group of 3 to 5 students at the same stage. Not a class of 30, and not a lecture: a room where they can ask anything.

Someone holding them to it

We set the weekly tasks, check they’re done and follow up when they’re not, so you don’t have to. With weekly drop-ins and 24/7 access, a question at 10pm gets answered, not left until next week’s lesson.

Proof it’s working

Timed mocks every few weeks, marked against their exam board’s grade boundaries, show the grade they’d get today and how many marks stand between them and their target. Your weekly report needs no maths to read.

Built by someone who’s done it

Kyra Hannibal, founder of MATHSZX
Grade 9 GCSE A* A-Level Maths & Further Maths MSci, Mathematics

The Confused to Clarity Method was created by Kyra Hannibal: Grade 9 at GCSE, A*s in A-Level Maths and Further Maths, and an Integrated Masters in Mathematics, and she’s been tutoring for over 8 years. She didn’t get there by doing more hours than everyone else. She got there by finding exactly where she was losing marks and fixing that first. Since founding MATHSZX in 2022, she’s built that into a system, and a team of specialist tutors, that has coached 150+ students with a 93% success rate.

Is this right for your child?

We’d rather tell you now than waste your time on a call.

This is for you if:

  • Your child is in Year 12 or Year 13, sitting A-Level Maths or Further Maths
  • They’re working at a C or above, and need an A or A* for a competitive course or a degree apprenticeship
  • They’re already putting the work in, but the grade won’t move
  • They’ll turn up to every session, do the weekly tasks and sit every mock
  • They’re on Edexcel, AQA, OCR A or OCR MEI

This isn’t for you if:

  • You want a quick boost a few weeks before an exam
  • Your child isn’t consistent, or doesn’t want support
  • You’re shopping around for the cheapest option rather than the most effective one
  • You’re looking for support by the hour

Questions parents ask us

Your child gets weekly sessions, both 1-to-1 and in a small group, plus drop-ins and a set plan of tasks, with timed mocks every few weeks. And with 24/7 support, they always have someone to ask when they’re stuck.

Kyra builds your child’s strategy, reviews their progress and runs our live Q&A every week. Their sessions are with one of our specialist tutors. Every one of them is a mathematician who has been through the same A-Levels, the same exams and the same pressure your child is facing now, and who knows how to explain things so they actually click. If your child doesn’t click with their tutor, we change it.

Around 5 to 8 focused hours, including mocks and set tasks. For most students that replaces the revision they’re already doing, rather than adding to it, because every hour goes where the marks are.

We don’t charge by the hour like a private tutor or a local tuition centre, and we’re not a budget option. The investment depends on how long your child is with us and the level of support they need, and we’ll walk you through the exact figures on your call. If you’re looking for the cheapest option available, this programme isn’t the right fit. The families who join us see their child’s grade as an investment in their future, and they commit to it that way.

We build every programme around your child’s exam date, because the A or A* is earned through consistent work over months, not weeks. Students who join in Year 12 often stay with us right through to their final exams in Year 13. Year 13 and resit students join for a shorter, more focused run, depending on how long they have left. Programmes start from 4 months.

You won’t have to guess. You’ll get a report every week, and timed mocks every few weeks show the grade your child would get if they sat the exam today, and how many marks stand between them and their target.

Yes. We coach both A-Level Maths and Further Maths across Edexcel, AQA, OCR A and OCR MEI. If your child is taking both, we support them across both subjects, and doing both together costs less than two separate programmes.
